Scandinave Minor PeeWees Secure Another Point On The Road
The Scandinave Minor PeeWees traveled to Burlington recently to do battle with the Eagles. After 3 consecutive road victories, the Highlander squad was anxious to extend their good fortunes away from the confines of their home barn.

With only a few points separating the two teams in the SCTA standings, the boys were ready to earn some precious points. This was an entertaining affair with end to end action and some aggressive forechecking by both participants. The 2 teams would exchange goals in both the first and second periods. Matthew Bogenrieder banged in the first goal of the game after a Derrick Cornfield rush. Cornfield earned the assist on the play. In the second frame, Brayden MacKenzie scored to even the score at 2 goals a piece. Hayden Coulter and Austin Vanwyck chipped in with the helpers. The Highlanders dominated the third but fell behind on an Eagle goal with 10 minutes remaining. Not to be outdone, the boys continued to press and were rewarded with a goal to secure the tie and a crucial point. Jamie Damignani collected the goal with the helper going to Matthew Bogenrieder. On 2 separate occasions, Connor Roberts fired 2 bullets off the crossbar that could be heard throughout the rink. When the boys were down by a score of 3-2, Malachi Albrecht pulled off 2 acrobatic saves to keep the Highlanders within striking distance.
On Sunday afternoon, it was back to Chesley arena for a matinee match with the league leading Oakville Rangers. From the drop of the puck, the team played some inspired hockey as they kept pace with the division leaders. The game was scoreless as the 2 teams resumed their spirited play in the second period. The Rangers gained some momentum on some fortuitous bounces and notched a pair of goals to take a 2-0 lead. The Highlanders had some excellent scoring chances in the third but were once again stymied by the Oakville tender. Throughout the contest, Lucas Pfeil made timely saves on quality scoring chances to keep his teammates in the contest. On this day, there would be no goal celebrations for the boys. The final score: Oakville 3-Highlanders 0.
