Highlander Pride Everywhere
St. Catherines was the venue, and the Grey Bruce Highlanders were the opponents. The double header was played with 4 points up for grabs. Three Highlander teams were in the house. Lots of support for the players and team alike was notable,  as chants from the Highlanders brother teams echoed  the arena, and the GBH apparell could be spotted everywhere!

With the invasion of the Bruce, the fans were treated by two excellent games played by the Atoms. Well fought and closely matched.

The Food Town crew were ready to play in game one at 12:15 hrs. The boys were agressive with forechecking and battling it out along the boards. The Niagara North Stars were first to score as they slipped in a loose puck found in front of the net. Soon after, defensemen, Jayce Busby made a well placed pass on the stick of Mark Aljoe who carried it in and skillfully deeked their netminder. Our defense were especially strong as they defended 12 penalty minutes without allowing a lone goal. Well done defense and goalie Talon!

Midgame, the GBH's found themselves in a sweet spot...a five on three powerplay! The club tried to capitalize on this opportunity but unfortunately, were not able. The North Stars ended the tie with a marker of their own early in the third. Final score 2-1.

After a small reprieve, the same two teams re-matched at 16:15 hrs. This game saw the North Stars double our penalty minutes. Mathew Donnelly was solid in net allowing only one in the first frame. The play seemed to be divided between both ends with back and forth activity. Aljoe netted the 2nd goal of the day with passes from Colby Loosemore and Busby. The set remained a tie. The Highlanders showed great determination all game, and with 23 seconds remaining, we had a few quality chances to be victorious, but had to settle with the draw. Two regular season games remain. This team has worked hard and ALWAYS shown passion and commitment to the team! Great work boys!
