Peewee Season Comes to an End
The Highlander peewee season came to an end this past weekend in Owen Sound in the SCTA Qualifiers so now we look for new beginnings.

The boys came to play on the weekend but failed to achieve the much sought after victory.  They started Friday morning falling 6-2 to Guelph with goals by Justin Donnelly (Reaman) and Logan Freiburger (Marshall) followed by a 8-1 loss to Hamilton on a goal by Alec Tiley (Freiburger).  Hamilton would finish the tournament undefeated, giving up three GA the entire tournament.  A little victory maybe, but Grey-Bruce did get one of these three goals.
Saturday turned out very similar with an opening 5-1 loss to St. Catherines with goal scored by Tristan Park (Bureau, Donnelly).  The final game saw a very unsportsmanlike Welland team finish off the Highlanders season.  It was unfortunate to end this season this way but hold your heads high boys you have improved throughout the season and the future can only be brighter.

As this season ends we move towards new beginnings and from what I witnessed yesterday in a small community in Grey County these boys still have a great love of the game and the desire to have fun on the ice.  As I watched various members of this team participate in a high tempo 3 on 3 tournament, what was obvious was not only the skill level of these players but the ability to move the puck, find the open man and the team approach to the game that these players have.  Awesome to watch boys and congratulations to the Parklawn Panthers (Champs - undefeated) and '98 Special (Consolation Champs).  It was good to see some Highlanders with victories!

The team will have a final "FUN" practice Monday March 21 @ 6 pm.

Remember Highlander tryouts start Saturday April 16.
