Running only 2 lines the Highlanders worked hard for this point, Highlanders fell 2-1 after the first period with a goal from Mitch Wright assisted by Wendel Cameron & Cole Rooney. No scoring through the second and most of the 3rd as the goalies were busy at each end, hard work pays off late in the period with Chris Gillman finding the net assisted by DJ Ardis & Brad Pitt, a hard working goal to get the 2-2 tie boys, good job.
Goaltender Jerred Kiss owned the game in Ayton on Sunday as the tired Highlanders took on a determined Burlington Eagle team. Once again Grey Bruce starts the 3rd period down a goal, not bad concidering Kiss has already stopped 24 shots to keep his team in a 0-1 game. Kurtis MacDermid screams in off the blue line and pounds in the tying goal from a smart pass by Mitch Wright. Burlington jumps ahead with thier 2nd shorthanded goal quickly after to take a 2-1 lead. Highlanders show some discipline late in the game that leads to the power play, DJ Ardis finally puts in the tying goal on a rebound with 40sec left, assisted by a Cole Rooney point shot.
