Grey Bruce Goaltenders shine as Highlanders skate to 3 more points.
Leeder & Associates RBC Dominion Security AAA Highlanders played the well groomed Hamilton Bull Dog team on Saturday in Chesley. Netminder Paul Boyadjian shut down Hamilton in the first period to give the Highlanders the 1-0 lead going into the second from a Mitch Wright powerplay goal, assisted by Brad Pitt & Trevor Hughson. Hamilton evened the score 1-1 midway through the 2nd but it only lasted a minute & half before DJ Ardis scored to regain the lead with assists from Mitch Wright & Kurtis MacDermid. Bull Dogs tied it up again before the end of the second period to make it a 2-2 game. Hamilton took the lead in the third period but rookie Brad Pitt finds the net to tie it at 3, Hamilton not giving up scores again to make it 4-3 with 5min left , Highlanders putting on lots of pressure with a pulled goaltender tie the game with 29sec left, Brad Pitt scoring his 2nd of the game with assist from DJ Ardis ties the game for a 4-4 final. Great team effort to pull this one off boys, great job.
Sunday the team travelled to Niagara Falls, the first period was close as Goaltender Jerrad Kiss frustrated the Niagara team with some outstanding saves. The Highlanders offence kicked in and made it a 5-1 game by the end of the second period. The 3rd period was scoreless, the well disciplined Highlander team kept focused on the win as they watched the Niagara team loose there dignity in a display of unsportsmanlike behaviour. Scoring for the Highlanders was Trevor Hughson unassisted, Trevor Hughson again from Wendel Cameron & Kurtis MacDermid, Mitch Wright from Brad Pitt & Mitch Borden, DJ Ardis from Chris Gillman & Trevor Hughson, Ian Nichols from Ryan Hudson and Trevor Hughson. Well earned points team.
