Minor Peewees Still Working Hard!
The Grey Bruce Line Spraying Minor Peewees had another tough weekend with two losses.  On Saturday they travelled to Milton to take on the Halton Hurricanes.  Halton played a very physical game and wore down our team with their impressive forechecking and engaging the defense in the attack.  The Highlanders had several opportunities to capitalize on the power play, but can't seem to get it working effectively.  Halton took the early lead, but the Highlanders fought back to tie it.  Austin Hamilton scored an unassisted marker beating the goaltender low to the stick side.

The Hurricanes tookover from there capitalizing on any errors our players made.  Throughout the game the Hurricanes were the more aggressive team and much stronger on their sticks than the Highlanders.

On Sunday the Highlanders played host to the Brampton Battalion.  The Highlanders had a couple of chances early and if they were able to connect and get the lead it may have turned out to be a totally different game.  The Highlanders again had several power play chances but could not convert.  The strength of the opposition seemed to wear down our squad.  The Highlanders kept fighting hard, but didn't seem to be working together as a unit.  Owen O'Donnell had several good solid body checks against the big fellas on the point for the Battalion.  AJ Braiden played a strong game in net despite the score.  He didn't have much help at times and it was generally the 2nd or 3rd shot that would go in the net.  The effort is there for much of the game for the Highlanders.  Look for our guys to be working on their stick/puck strength and power play situations to help improve our chances.
