Minor Bantam's Finalists at Hamilton Jr Bulldogs Tournament
The Dan Rear Lawn Service minor bantam Highlanders travelled to Hamilton this past weekend to participate in the Hamilton Jr Bulldogs 2008 tournament classic.

Game one saw the minor bantams face off with the South Central Coyotes. In what was a tight checking and hard hitting game, the Highlanders came up short by a score of 2 - 1. In game two, the Highlanders faced league rival Niagara Falls Canucks. The boys got on the board first, but let up considerably after that. The Canucks took full advantage scoring three times to take a 3 - 1 lead. With full credit to our team, they did not quit, fighting back with 2 goals to tie the game at 3. In game three the Highlanders faced the Chatham Kent Cyclones. Some good puck movement and playmaking found the Highlanders up by a 7 - 2 score at the end of the game. Our next opponent was the North York Rangers. In what was a very chippy game, the Highlanders let cooler heads prevail. A strong effort by all ended in a 7 - 1 win.

The Dan Rear Lawn Service minor bantams finished the round robin portion of the tournament at 2-1-1, good enough for 3rd place and a date with the South Central Coyotes in the semi finals. In what was arguably the Highlanders best effort of the weekend, the teams finished regulation time tied at 2. Five minutes of sudden death overtime solved nothing. Another 5 minute period of 3 on 3 followed. The Highlanders controlled the play in the 3 on 3 until less than one minute remaining when Connor Patton Scored the double overtime winner!

The Highlanders then faced the Mississauga Rebels in the finals of the Hamilton Jr Bulldogs Classic tournament. The game was a fast paced game, with good puck movement and tight checking. The Highlanders opened the scoring but couldn't find the next goal to pad the lead. Penalty trouble cost the boys a couple of goals, while the Highlanders had some bad luck around the net. Our team finally ran out of gas and the game ended in a 4 - 1 win for Mississauga.

Congrats to the team for a good weekend and making it to the finals! Good Job and keep up the good work!
