Peewee’s Spend Christmas Break in Nation’s Capital
The Garb & Gear Peewee’s traveled to Ottawa between Christmas and New Year’s to participate in the Bell Capital Cup.  For a warm up after the long drive, the team played an exhibition game on Dec 27 and were defeated 6-1 against the Toronto Titans.

Tournament play began on Dec 28 with an early morning game against the Ajax/Pickering Raiders.  The boys came out strong and shutout the Raiders 2-0.  Later that day they played the Sault St. Marie Junior Grey Hounds and came up short after a late third period goal that gave the Soo Grey Hounds a 2-1 win.

The night of Dec 28th the team got to experience some World Junior Hockey.  The team attended the International World Junior Game between the USA and Czechoslovakia.  What a highlight!

The next day, Dec 29th, the team was back on the ice where they were up against the Gloucester Rangers where they were defeated 3-1.  Their second game that day brought them up against a team from British Columbia, the Victoria Racquet Club Kings. Both teams were fighting hard for the win which resulted in a 4-4 tie eliminating them from the playoff round.

As part of the tournament all the players got to participate in the skills competition or the all-star game where the boys got to display their great speed and agility.

After being eliminated from the playoff, the team was then given the opportunity to play another exhibition game against the Victoria Racquet Club Kings.  The boy’s sticks were on fire this game and finished up the tournament with an 8-1 win.
