Minor Peewees finish 2nd in division
The Minor Peewees travelled to Hamilton this past weekend to participate in the annual Tim Horton's tournament. Following a couple of weeks of tough competition, the team was looking forward to a weekend of bonding, and focus on becoming a more unified squad.
They finished the tournament placing 2nd in their division, just short for advancement.

The boys started the tournament with a 5-5 tie against the Chatham-Kent Cyclones. The squad never lets a deficit get their competitive spirit down, but rather drives them harder to the puck. Thus the team managed to battle back from a 5-2 deficit, scoring the 5th and final goal in the last couple of minutes of the game.

Game 2 and 3 were hard-fought games, showing great improvement in many areas both defensively and offensively. Battling through penalty kills and having many opportunities at the net, their losses weren't for lack of effort, with final scores of 5-0 and 4-0 against the Cambridge Hawks and Sudbury Wolves respectively.

Game 4 had the Highlanders playing against the undefeated Amherst Knights. Coming out strong, the Highlanders buried 5 goals on the Knights, taking a comfortable 5-0 lead in the 2nd period. Looking for tournament advancement, the Knights replied with a couple of power play goals, and fought back to a 5-4 trail. With a strong desire to take the Knights, the Highlanders managed a 6th goal, to finish the game with a 6-4 win.

The team staff ended their weekend feeling very positive about their teams' improvements and very satisfied that this new and young team is continuing to work together with a "never give up" attitude.
