One Goal Short
The 2002 Major Bantam Highlanders season came to a close with a bang this past weekend.  The team finished their SCTA tournament with a 2-1-1 record, 4th best at tourney, but did not get through to the playoff series.  The players competed at an incredibly high level, played their hearts out and should have walked out of the rink with heads high for such an amzing season

The team faced Guelph in the first game on day one..  Despite some strong stretches of carrying the play we came up on the wrong end of a 3-0 score.  No time to hang our heads as back at it later in the day vs  the Southern Tier Admirals who had our number this year.  The Highlanders played a flawless game and got back to even on the day with a 2-1 win and finished the day at 1-1 and in the mix of things.

Day 2 brought the physical Bulldogs from Hamilton to the table first thing in the morning.  The highlanders took some time to get the legs going but eventually turned it up and came away with the 3-1 victory.  This set up the big game vs Halton Hills Sunday afternoon.  The boys had put things in their own hands and were a focused and determined group.  Even with carrying the majority of the play vs Halton they found themselves down 3-1 with under two minutes to play.  The Highlanders showed their determination again by scoring twice with the goalie pulled to even the score.  Unfortunately a tie did not help as a 2-1-1 record was not good enough this year to advance.

Congrats to the 2002 group on a fantastic season.  So much to be proud of.
