PeeWee, 2012-2013 (Grey-Bruce Highlanders AAA Minor Hockey Association)

written by:  The Trainer Think back to August of 2012 when an unrefined rag tag team of PeeWee players hit the ice together for the first time. What were your expectations? What would your definition of a "good" season be? How about a .500 hockey club? How about a sniff at a few tournament Sunday’s? How about a competitive showing at the season end SCTA qualifier? All sounded reasonable at the time. Only a crazy rabbit would have dreamed of more.

With wins over the Hamilton Bulldogs and the York Simcoe Express and ties with Clarington and the North Central Predators, the Scandinave Spa Highlander Pee Wees have gained a berth in Sunday's Gold Medal Game at the OMHA Championships! Stay Tuned.

written by:  The Trainer The SCTA qualifying tournament was held in beautiful Niagara Falls this weekend and the Highlanders packed up their coolers and made the trek down. While the parents were reminiscing of honeymoons and heart shaped Jacuzzi tubs the Major Peewee’s had one thing on their mind, and that was to be there on Sunday. All arrived Thursday night at different times so the parent meeting took a little longer than expected while the players hit the hay early in preparation for a long weekend.

With 3 games played and 3 wins, the Scandinave Spa Pee Wee Highlanders have secured a spot in the Sunday finals at the SCTA qualifying tournament.  Stay tuned for more updates. With 1 minute to go in a 2-2 game against the Niagara Falls Rivermen, the Highlanders buried the puck to go ahead 3-2.  With this wins the boys have won 4 straight, captured 8 points and 1st place in their pool.  They will go on to play the Oakville Rangers, Sunday at 1 pm.  A win would put them into the OMHA Championship tournament, next week in Clarington.

Written by:  The Trainer A busy weekend it was as your Scandinave Grey Bruce Highlanders played 3 games in 3 days. First game, Saturday at home, was against the top seeded Hamilton Jr Bulldogs. This was a dog fight right to the end as both teams battled back and forth. Hamilton would open the scoring in the first before Grey-Bruce tied it up early in the second with a canonizing slapper from the point by Austin Vanwyck, assist Connor Roberts.
