Superior Midgets Split Weekend Games With Halton

Back to back games this weekend with Halton saw our Superior Road Midgets play two of their most consitent games to date.
In the first game on Friday Feb 5 at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, it looked bleak for the Highlanders with Halton leading 4-0 after the first period. Tenacity and hard work kept the Highlanders in the game and at the end of two the boys had fought back to make it a 5-3 game. Halton kept up their attack in the third and came out on top with an 8-4 final, but our boys played hard til the end.
Meeting again in Chesley on Sunday Feb 7th, Halton again took the lead with a late goal in the first period on the powerplay, and scored early in the second. The Superior midgets kept up their attack and were rewarded with three of their own goals in the second period making it 3-2 after two. The Highlanders scored first in the third, with Halton answering less than a minute later. Next goal went to the Highlanders when they caught the Halton powerplay off guard and netted a shorthanded goal. This game was a nailbiter to the end, with the Highlanders playing hard and defensively to retain the lead. Halton would score one more with 1:14 remaining in the third after pulling their goalie for the extra attacker, but our midgets were able to keep the lead and WIN the game 5-4. Excellent effort in both games boys.
Before heading to Pittsburgh Pensylvania to participate in the Annual President's Day Cup, the team will play in Guelph Tues Feb 9th and work hard again to secure another two points.
