1. SIGNING AUTHORITY

  1. Cheque signing will require two signatures. The Treasurer and one of either the President, 1st Vice-President or Secretary.
  2. Contracts in the ordinary course of association operations may be entered into on behalf of the association by the President, 1st Vice-President, Treasurer or any other person by the board.

2. TEAMS

  1. Entry of a team into the O.M.H.A. and the league, automatically binds that team, its’ officials and players to comply with the rules and regulations as set by the O.M.H.A. and the association.
  2. Teams will be comprised of a minimum of 16 players selected at scheduled tryouts, prior to the first league game. Teams with less than 16 players require the approval of the board of directors.
  3. Players must be signed at least five (5) days prior to the O.M.H.A. roster deadline for the current season. This date is subject to change by O.M.H.A. regulations.
  4. If a player requests his release prior to Nov. 1st, it must be in writing and the association may release this player to the home centre with no refund of monies. If the decision is mutual between the team and the player, the refund will be 50% of the registration fee less fixed expenses, before December 01. After this date there will be no refund of monies issued. Should the de-assigning be the Coach’s decision, the refund will be proportional based on the time of the de-assigning less fixed expenses. Any monies refunded come from the team budget.
  5. When considered in the best interest of the association, it may cancel any team entry at any time.
  6. Criminal Reference Checks are due October 07 every two years.

3. EQUIPMENT

  1. The Highlanders colours will be:
    • Away - Black with Red and White Trim
    • Home - White with Red and Black Trim
  2. All teams shall carry a First Aid Kit to all home and away games and practices.
  3. Water bottles will be supplied to each team.
  4. All players are responsible for the care and maintenance of association equipment and must return it upon request.
  5. While involved on the ice with any activity sanctioned by the association, all players shall wear an approved helmet, face mask, neck protector and mouth guard. Furthermore, all on-ice coaching staff require an approved helmet during practices.
  6. All sweaters will have a Canadian flag on the breast or the shoulder.

4. TRYOUTS

  1. Tryouts camp will be arranged to use available ice, starting in April or August (midget) each year.
  2. A fee will be charged for each tryout. This fee will be set by the Board annually.
  3. A processing fee of $50 will be attached to all Form #1 Waivers issued to out-of-zone players. The same fee will apply to all Form #1 Waivers that must be re-issued.

5. SPONSORSHIP

  1. Sponsorship to be provided by each team.
  2. Sponsorship fees will be set annually by the board of directors.

6. GENERAL RULES

  1. Rules as set down by C.A.H.A. and O.M.H.A. shall govern play.
  2. Any team failing to play a scheduled game will be referred to the league for discipline.
  3. All teams shall shake hands prior to the beginning of the game, the only exception being at the end of a game that completes a playoff series.
  4. Referees are appointed by the referee-in-chief for league games and by the O.M.H.A. for playoff games and must be paid per O.M.H.A. regulations plus mileage prior to the game.
  5. The Association will provide pictures for each team sponsor annually.
  6. All Association players, officials and board of directors will be covered by the O.M.H.A. insurance.
  7. The Association will automatically hold a review for each player that reaches one or more of the following categories at any time during the season, including exhibition, tournament and regular season games:
    1. ejections from 5 or more games
    2. suspensions totalling 10 or more games
    3. total penalty minutes of 120 or more, including misconducts
    The Head Coach will be notified when a player reaches 70 PIM and must hold a review with player/parent, then complete and submit the Player 70 PIM form to the President. If a player reaches one or more of the above levels, the player, his Coach, (and parents if desired), will appear before the Executive at a regularly or specially scheduled meeting to explain and discuss the player's behaviour. The Executive may impose an additional suspension of one or more games, beyond what is the minimum OMHA suspension, at this review, or subsequent to it. Further ejections or suspensions may result in forfeiture of playing privileges for the remainder of the season, including tournaments and playoffs. Failure to appear at this review will result in an automatic suspension of one or more games.

7. ADDITIONS OR AMENDMENTS

The board of directors may amend, change, add to or delete any of the rules and regulations at any time by a majority vote at a board meeting.
