PROFESSIONAL POWERSKATING INSTRUCTOR

2010-2011

It has been my pleasure to coach skaters for almost 30 years. I started out teaching figure skating initially, and then shortly into my career, I shifted my primary focus to powerskating. I have worked with hockey players ranging from the Tyke to Major Junior A  levels, throughout the Grey Bruce area. I also teach an Adult powerskating program in Owen Sound.

I was born in Kitchener-Waterloo, and moved to Sauble Beach as a teen, and from there  to Owen Sound when I got married 27 years ago. I have been around the rinks my entire life as a skater, and as a hockey supporter for both  my husband and my brother. I have also been a hockey Mom for the past several years as my son, Jerry, played rep hockey for Owen Sound from Novice through Major Midget (last year).  My daughter is also a competitive figure skater, and is typically on the ice 4-5 times per week. During the off season I enjoy being on the golf course as much as possible.

My powerskating program for the teams this year will include skill and technique development, along with conditioning. We will focus on balance, control, speed and endurance.

My philosophy is that I can help to provide one piece of the puzzle, of the several that are required, in the development of a complete hockey player.

I am looking forward to working with all the players and coaches again this year.

See you at the rink!
